Nobody's perfect and no doubt it's constructive to see the good in people. I'm certain that this is fruitful in the personal realm as many will be happy to fill a positive role if you give it to them.

What I'm less sure of is whether to support an officeholder when their activities are so heavily skewed toward corporate power. I harbor no illusions that the system will "wake up", bring back the secret ballot, and put an end to lobbying. I suspect this system will grow, decay, and be replaced by a new one with its own issues. Maybe corporate power is simply a proxy for what people really want, everything cheaper, and right now.

In the meantime (and we're probably talking decades) I suspect the best we can do curtail the worst abuses while educating both citizenry and leadership on what we'd like to see more of. I'd love to see more signs that public opinion matters in politics. I'd love to see more younger people engaged as well which is funny to say when the most political thing I do is comment on medium.

Pendulums will swing and the world will march on. Have a nice day!
